City Plans to eliminate Parking Spaces along Pine and Spruce

Updated: Mar 31

Part of the City’s plan to install concrete barriers on Pine and Spruce is to remove massive amounts of parking on those two streets. Scan the QR Code and sign our petition asking the Mayor and Councilmember Squilla to stop this plan.

·      The City, in writing, has always allowed people to pull into the bike lanes briefly to unload packages and drop-off passengers – and not a single fatality has ever occurred from a bicyclist having to maneuver around a parked car.

·      Now, the City, in a capitulation to the well-funded bike lobbyists, wants to install concrete barriers. To do this, the City must find places for all those drop-offs to occur.

·      The City’s answer is to create large “loading zones” on the parking side of the street, which means they want to remove 4 to 5 parking spaces on each block of Pine and Spruce.  This ridiculous plan needs to be reconsidered.

This petition was circulated by Friends of Pine and Spruce (FOPS), a newly formed 501(c)(4) organization to advocate for sane safety measures on Pine and Spruce.  Feel free to email us at FriendsOfPineAndSpruce@gmail.com
