STREET CLOSURES REQUIRED: Installing barriers will lead to unintended consequences.

Updated: Apr 15

If lane separation barriers were implemented, deliveries of construction materials would necessitate road closures, requiring permits and police presence. Given the frequency of such deliveries, it would be nearly impossible to navigate east and west without resorting to detours. This would trigger a "detour slinky" effect, resulting in gridlock and a significant increase in traffic on surrounding streets. Moreover, cyclists would be forced onto streets that lack proper bike lanes, further compromising safety and mobility. Such a scenario highlights the urgent need for the city to rethink its planning to mitigate traffic disruptions and ensure the safety of all road users.
